He trained in gastroenterology at Sri Jayewardenepura General Hospital and as a Senior Clinical Fellow at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford. A 2013 JSGE scholarship took him to Kyoto Prefectural University for advanced therapeutic endoscopy.
